The University of Batangas (UB) Young Communicators’ Guild (YCG) guided Grade 4 students with an outreach program titled COMMunicare: COMMitted to Grow, COMMitted to Guide at Tinga Labac Elementary School on September 10, 2025
The initiative aimed to teach hands-on workshops on sustainable gardening and waste segregation to the young learners, equipping them how to use recyclable materials for planting.
Directly supporting quality education and climate action goals, YCG organized these activities to bring YCG members and the young learners together for a day of shared, values-based education. Through gardening demonstrations and lively discussions, the program highlighted how effective communication and education can drive meaningful social impact.
The YCG designed this initiative to instill a deep sense of environmental stewardship and responsibility in the young participants. The program showcased that growth extends far beyond academic learning, focusing instead on cultivating a mindset of sustainability. The students learned practical skills that empower them to contribute to food security and environmental health within their own community.
This COMMunicare program exemplifies the Young Communicators’ Guild’s core dedication to community engagement and applied learning. The entire initiative directly supports two major global goals: SDG 4: Quality Education (specifically Indicator 4.3.4, focusing on education outreach beyond campus) and SDG 13: Climate Action. Ultimately, the program cultivates responsible, eco-conscious, and proactive citizens who are capable of contributing to lifelong learning and sustainable community development.
