The University of Batangas (UB) College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) conducted the GASPE Subject Retooling Session bringing together faculty members from the Social Sciences, Legal Management, and Political Science Department at the Computer Laboratory, H-Building on July 17, 2025.

The retooling activity emphasized the need for educators to update their teaching approaches, materials, and methodologies. Faculty participants collaborated to refine the course framework, focusing on developing students’ understanding of gender equality, social justice, and peaceful coexistence. The session encouraged instructors to move beyond memorization-based learning and to promote discussions that nurture empathy, awareness, and critical thinking.

Throughout the program, participants explored innovative strategies for engaging students in meaningful dialogue about gender roles, inclusivity, and conflict resolution. The discussions also addressed ways to connect academic content with real-world contexts, equipping students with values essential for responsible and compassionate citizenship.

This initiative underscores the University of Batangas’ commitment to academic excellence, inclusivity, and peace education, reflecting its alignment with SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 5: Gender Equality. By empowering educators to create transformative learning experiences, the CAS ensures that students gain both knowledge and perspective — fostering a campus culture rooted in understanding and respect.

The GASPE Subject Retooling Session successfully prepared faculty members to deliver a more engaging, inclusive, and socially relevant learning experience in the coming semester. Through this effort, the College of Arts and Sciences continues to champion education as a driving force for equality, empathy, and lasting peace.
