The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of the University of Batangas (UB) conducted a seminar titled “Tamang Alaga: Child Safety and Protection & Lolo at Lola, Alamin Mo” on September 13, 2025. The activity aimed to educate participants on laws that protect children and senior citizens from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
The seminar supported Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, which promotes peace, equality, and access to justice through public awareness.
Atty. Blesilda Miguela A. Godoy, faculty member of the UB Legal Management Department and Public Attorney I at the Public Attorney’s Office, served as the keynote speaker. She discussed the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010 and the Anti-Child Abuse Law (Republic Act No. 7610), highlighting the legal rights and protections afforded to vulnerable sectors.
The event gathered students, youth, senior citizens, and local stakeholders for an inclusive discussion on human rights and community vigilance. It also underscored the shared duty of citizens to help prevent abuse and uphold justice for all.
Through initiatives like Tamang Alaga, the University of Batangas continues to promote awareness, empowerment, and compassion—strengthening the community’s collective effort to protect the welfare and dignity of both children and the elderly.
