The Junior Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (JIIEE) – UBAT Chapter organized GABAYee, a tutorial session held on October 3, 2025, at the University of Batangas, to assist first-year engineering students in preparing for their upcoming midterm examinations.

The activity provided comprehensive reviews and practical exercises in Math Plus and Calculus I, aiming to reinforce mastery of essential mathematical concepts and sharpen analytical problem-solving skills.

The tutorial session sought to help students revisit previously discussed topics, strengthen their understanding of challenging lessons, and develop exam-focused strategies. Designed as a peer-assisted learning program, it also promoted collaboration and confidence-building among first-year students as they navigated fundamental engineering subjects.

Supervised by the JIIEE–UBAT Chapter Organization, the event featured dedicated tutors — Kenji Magpantay, Mark Andrei Rosales, Euclid Gabriel Sulit, John Mathew Agojo, and John Dale Mestiola — who guided participants through interactive discussions and problem-solving drills. Engr. Aljohn Escalona opened the program with a message emphasizing the importance of focus, discipline, and teamwork in achieving academic success.

To address the distinct learning needs of each subject, the session divided participants into two groups. The Calculus I tutorial, conducted at the Auditorium by Magpantay, Rosales, and Sulit, covered advanced topics such as trigonometric functions, derivatives of trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions, and derivatives of logarithmic functions. Simultaneously, the Math Plus tutorial, facilitated by Mestiola and Agojo at Room D501, reviewed key lessons on fractions, linear and quadratic equations, and systems of linear equations.

Throughout the day, the tutors provided learning materials and hands-on exercises prepared in collaboration with subject professors. Students demonstrated active engagement by asking questions, solving problems, and applying the techniques discussed. After a short break, the afternoon session resumed to complete the remaining topics. The program concluded with Engr. Escalona’s closing remarks, where he reminded students of the importance of consistent practice, time management, and a proactive study approach.

The GABAYee tutorial achieved its objectives by helping students deepen their comprehension, improve retention, and boost confidence ahead of their exams. The focused and collaborative approach allowed tutors to effectively address key lessons while fostering an encouraging learning environment.

Moving forward, the JIIEE–UBAT Chapter recommends closer coordination between tutors and subject professors to ensure uniformity in teaching methods and accuracy in content delivery. This alignment will enhance the quality of future sessions and provide students with an even stronger academic foundation.

The GABAYee initiative reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to academic support and excellence, proving that collaboration, preparation, and perseverance are essential elements in the journey toward engineering success.
