Fifty-nine University of Batangas (UB) computing students secured industry-recognized Amazon Web Services certifications in June 2026, boosting local tech talent and expanding access to global cloud-computing opportunities.
AWS Academy administered the examinations, which validated the students’ proficiency across foundational, associate, and specialized artificial intelligence domains.
Gian Sandrex Faa, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) student, passed the rigorous AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate exam. This qualification affirms an individual’s capability to design and deploy secure, robust, and scalable applications on AWS technologies.
Additionally, 20 students earned the newly developed AWS Certified AI Practitioner credential. This group includes BSIT majors Ian Laurence Abacan, Christian EJ Aldovino, Billy Joe Almiro, Kristine Danly Asi, James Anzel Bermudez, Godwin Dela Cruz, Justine Mae Dolor, Jan Matthew Etruiste, Justine Meg Evangelista, Franzcine Kierk Gelera, Margarette Maligaya, Ronn Errol Mendoza, Angelo Pabustan, and Mikaela Zaiwinder Sy. It also features Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSComSci) students Joshua Geroleo, Arabela Lajara, Bao Khang Ho, and Ruzzell Natividad, alongside Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS) majors Nicka Jane Bacsa and Carl Patrick Tanzo.

Specifically, this cloud initiative fulfills SDG Target 4.4 by substantially increasing the number of youth who possess relevant technical skills for employment and entrepreneurship. Educators track this progress using Indicator 4.4.1, which measures the proportion of youth with specialized information and communications technology (ICT) skills. The certifications also support Target 8.2 by driving higher levels of economic productivity through technological upgrading and innovation, which economists monitor using Indicator 8.2.1.
