When brains and arts meet – eloquence and melody filled the air as the University of Batangas (UB) cultural delegation transformed the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) 2026 Regional Meet into a showcase of Brahman artistry in San Pablo City, Laguna on March 25, 2026.
Rohan Lior F. Flores, a first-year AB Political Science student, dominated the Oration Competition, besting a competitive field of speakers to emerge as the Regional Champion. Under the expert guidance of his coach, Ms. Angelica Fe Liwag, Flores delivered a compelling and eloquent performance that resonated with the panel of judges.
His victory earns him a prestigious spot in the upcoming National PRISAA Games, where he will represent the CALABARZON region. This win also highlights the sharp communication skills and critical thinking fostered within the university’s College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).
In the musical category, UB celebrated a harmonious win as Ms. Krisvel Ellein I. Cepillo and Ms. Hilary Jhoy C. Magsisi clinched 3rd Place in the Vocal Duet Competition.
Cepillo, a second-year BSBA Marketing Management major, and Magsisi, a first-year Multimedia Arts student, showcased exceptional vocal chemistry and technical range. Their coach, Mr. Sherwin H. Celis, guided the duo through a rigorous preparation process, resulting in a performance that captivated the regional audience. Their success brings together diverse academic disciplines – business and the arts – to achieve a singular, melodic triumph for the institution.
UB leverages its cultural triumphs to champion the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), integrating physical and artistic excellence into its mission for global progress.
By providing a platform for students like Flores, Cepillo, and Magsisi to hone their specialized talents, the university advances SDG 4: Quality Education. This achievement proves that a high-quality education includes the development of self-expression, confidence, and the arts as essential components of a well-rounded graduate.
Furthermore, the university’s active participation in regional cultural exchanges supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through the PRISAA network, UB strengthens ties with other academic institutions, fostering a community of shared values and mutual respect through healthy competition. Finally, by encouraging students from various backgrounds to share their voices and talents, the institution promotes SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, ensuring that every student has an equitable opportunity to achieve success regardless of their field of study.
