Strengthening its commitment to quality and sustainability – the University of Batangas (UB) joined the 35th National Quality Forum (NQF) themed “Sustainable Excellence: Purpose at the Heart of Quality” held from October 23 to 25, 2025 at Camp John Hay Convention Center, Baguio City.
UB representatives from the Institutional Quality Assurance Office (IQAO), Dr. Analyn D. Soriano and Dr. Merly C. Panaligan, actively participated in the conference organized by the Philippine Society for Quality (PSQ).
The forum opened with keynote insights from Mayor Benjamin Magalong, who underscored the importance of integrity, accountability, and purpose in driving effective leadership. UB participants attended discussions that highlighted how purpose-driven strategies strengthen organizational resilience, innovation, and ethical decision-making. They also joined the panel on “The Purpose-Driven Organization,” which emphasized the alignment of institutional values with long-term sustainability and societal impact.
UB IQAO noted several significant recognitions presented during the event, including the awarding of the Juran Medal, the Quality Manager of the Year Award, and the turnover of the Quality Champions Programme to PSQ. The representatives also witnessed the conferment of the Quality Sustainability Award, which honored organizations leading transformative and environmentally conscious initiatives. These recognitions reinforced the national call to embed quality and sustainability in organizational systems.
Throughout the three-day conference, UB IQAO members gained key insights from sessions on operational excellence, environmental responsibility, people-centered culture, and data-driven systems. The event encouraged institutions like UB to strengthen their quality assurance frameworks and promote leadership anchored in purpose, innovation, and continuous improvement.
“Our participation in the forum serves as a commitment to improving the quality of our institutional processes,” said Dr. Soriano. She added, “Being included in this forum allows us to gain insights from other organizations and industries about their best practices, which helped them meet their institutional objectives.”
UB continues to uphold its commitment to institutional excellence, ethical leadership, and sustainable development as it aligns its efforts with national quality standards in Philippine higher education.
