The University of Batangas Distance Education (UB DE) and Senior High School Department (UB SHS) partnered with STEC Academy Vietnam for an International Training in Strategic Communication and Debating, held on August 1, 2025, at the UB Vicente A. Mayo Corporate Center (VAMCC).
The program started with opening remarks from Dr. Lolita F. Tegon, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, followed by an inspirational message from Mr. Phan Thi Lien Chi, Founder and Director of STEC Academy Vietnam.
Dr. Augusto C. Africa, Basic Education Director and SHS Principal, introduced the speakers: Mr. Jon D. Dalangin of STEC Academy, who led Talk 1: Strategic and Multicultural Communication, and Dr. Carl Ivan B. Villanueva, Director of UB DE, who delivered Talk 2: Open Communication and Mastering Debating.
The University President Lily Marlene J. Hernandez-Bohn also shared insights to inspire the participants before the awarding of certificates. The program concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Villanueva.
With the theme “Elevating Global Disclosure Through Skillful Speech”, the training fostered intercultural collaboration, cultural sensitivity, and unity among diverse communities. UB DE aims to equip students with the skills in speech and debate necessary for responsible communication in a globalized world—proving that in learning, there is no distance.
