The University of Batangas commemorated the remarkable contributions of Mrs. Josefina Javier, wife of one of UB’s founders, Mr. Juan Y. Javier, during the Founders Memorial Lecture 2025 held on February 21, 2025, at the UB Auditorium.
UB President Lily Marlene J. Hernandez-Bohn led the gathering, delivering an inspiring lecture on the life and legacy of her grandmother, Mrs. Javier. She emphasized Mrs. Javier’s profound influence—not just on her family, but also on the UB community, the province, and the country.
The lecture honored Mrs. Javier’s legacy by shedding light on her quiet strength, unshakable commitment to education, and the crucial role she played behind the scenes in helping establish the University. Her enduring dedication and nurturing spirit profoundly influenced the institution’s values. The university’s mission and vision continue to be guided by the legacy of excellence and service that Mrs. Javier helped create as a matriarch, mentor, and example of compassion and resilience.
In addition, the event began with a flower offering ceremony to honor the founders, led by their kins and alumni who are Founders Memorial Awardees, symbolizing gratitude and remembrance for their enduring impact on education and society.
The Founders Memorial Lecture 2025 was a testament to UB’s unwavering commitment to honoring its past while inspiring present and future UBians to uphold the values and excellence set forth by its pioneers.
