The University of Batangas achieves another milestone in its commitment to educational excellence as the Department of Education officially approved its implementation of the Strengthened Senior High School (SSHS) curriculum in Batangas City on May 16, 2025. This recognition establishes UB as a pioneering institution for the updated academic curriculum.

According to Dr. Augusto C. Africa, UB Senior High School Principal, the restructured curriculum is designed to improve both the efficiency and effectiveness of the SHS experience. He highlighted key advantages such as the streamlining of subjects, a healthier academic-life balance, and a stronger alignment between SHS learning and students’ tertiary goals—especially for those in the Pure Academic Track. For students in the Tech Pro Track, the curriculum aims to provide more hands-on and experiential learning opportunities.

Assistant Principal Shiela Aguba echoed this vision, emphasizing the curriculum’s central goal: the holistic development of learners. She noted that students will receive excellent education from teachers who are specialized in specific fields, ensuring focused and field-relevant guidance.

This academic year, UB’s Grade 11 students comprise the pioneering batch to experience the enhanced curriculum. As trailblazers, they are set to benefit from a program that not only meets the evolving needs of today’s learners but also prepares them to thrive in both higher education and the future careers.

As a pilot institution, University of Batangas reaffirms its role as a leader in innovative and student-centered education.
