On October 18, 2024, the University of Batangas conducted a benchmarking activity at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) in Cagayan de Oro City to enhance its academic programs in line with international standards. Organized by UB’s Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) Committee, the event aimed to study USTP’s OBE implementation and assessment methods, understand evaluation tools, and learn best practices for securing accreditation under the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) and the Washington Accord.

The UB team received a warm welcome from the USTP administration, led by Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Lory Liza Bulay-og, for a fruitful benchmarking activity. The session included presentations of both institutions’ Outcome-Based Education (OBE) frameworks, followed by a guided tour of USTP’s advanced laboratories. The UB team led by Engr. Pablo Asi highlighted their approach to OBE, emphasizing three core areas: OBE Framework, Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) and Program Outcomes (POs), and Syllabus Format.

This experience offered valuable insights into OBE implementation, faculty development, accreditation pathways, and the integration of technology in education. The exchange is a significant step forward in UB’s ongoing efforts toward continuous improvement and alignment with global education standards.
