Unwrapping opportunities and possibilities, the University of Batangas-Lipa City hosted an open house activity titled “UBLC: Unlocked” which showcased the campus’ state-of-the-art facilities and introduced college program offerings to select 19 Batangas-schools, as well as an opportunity to learn more about the vibrant UBLC community, March 3, 2023.
After four years since its last open house activity, UBLC reopened its doors to guests and participating schools from the Province of Batangas.
“Ako po ay natutuwa at nakarating kayo rito sa University of Batangas Lipa City Campus. UBLC: Unlocked, ibig-sabihin bukas ang pinto ng UBLC upang makita ninyo kung anong mga kaganapan dito sa UBLC,” said University President, Dr. Hernando B. Perez during his opening remarks.
Highlights of the campus tour were the newly improved facilities and renovated areas such as the canteen, multi-purpose hall, and the specialized facilities for the Tourism and Hospitality Management programs.
“More than just the program offerings, an educational institution will be the home for a future young professional. An open house will showcase more than the facilities and structures. It will give the students a “feel” of the campus, the vibes, and the culture,” said Dr. Mayling Ilagan-Capuno, Dean of College of Information, Technology, Entertainment and Communication (CITEC).
Moreover, each college department has introduced and welcomed the guests and students to different college program offerings of the university through various exhibits and presentations promoting the projects and services special to their respective fields.
“They prepared and considered games connected to the department they represent. They [students] participated in the game and exhibits inside the Bank of UBians, which is related to what the CBAA has to offer,” said third-year BS Financial Management student Roxanne Ilagan, one of the ushers during the open house from the College of Business, Accountancy and Auditing (CBAA).
“The admirable opportunity about this [open house activity] is that the employment after completing the chosen program was also explained, in addition to the program itself,” Ilagan added.
UBLC’s AI-powered receptionist KettyBot also helped usher the campus guests and students.
A Grade 12 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) student from De La Salle Lipa expressed his thoughts as he experienced an open house event for the first time.
“I learned about the campus life of a UBian and the things I look forward to as an upcoming college student. The college program offerings introduced at UB were creative, capturing all students’ attention and leading them professionally. It has indeed opened a new door of possibility for me,” he said.
Another Grade 12 Accountancy and Business Management (ABM) student from FAITH Catholic School said he can’t go wrong if he ever chooses the University of Batangas during the event.
“One of my takeaways from the visit is the many programs the UB can offer. As a Grade 12 student, it’s time for me to open and widen my range of possibilities for my best choice for studying college. And through this visit, I was able to confirm that if I ever choose the University of Batangas, my skills and knowledge will be further enhanced,” he said.
After the campus tour, everyone gathered in the gymnasium for the performance of different UB Cultural groups such as UBLC Vocal Ensemble, UBLC Dance Company – Street, UB BRAHMAN Pep Squad, and the live free concert of 6-member PPop band, 1st. ONE.
“UBLC: Unlocked” was attended by 19 schools from the province, namely: Taal Senior High School, Padre Vicente Garcia Memorial Academy Inc., Bolbok Integrated National High School, Holistic Academy for Achievers, Inosloban-Marawoy Integrated National High School, La Purísima Concepción Academy, The Lipa Grace Academy, Our Lady of Caysasay Academy, Our Lady of Fatima Educational System, Academia De Lipa, Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas, Balete Family Farm School, Sico Integrated National High School, University of Batangas-Lipa City, LCC Silvercrest Senior High School, FAITH Catholic School, De La Salle Lipa, STI College Lipa, The Mabini Academy, Holy Trinity School of Lipa, La Consolacion College of Tanauan, and G.B.
