The University of Batangas (UB) Grade School Clinic organized a Health Seminar on Teenage Pregnancy Prevention on April 10, 2025, at the UBBC Grade School Quadrangle, engaging Grade 5 and 6 Dreamschoolers in an informative and values-driven session led by Dr. Grace Catapang, School Physician, and Ms. Myla Lucero, School Nurse.
The seminar aimed to raise early awareness on the causes and consequences of teenage pregnancy while promoting responsible decision-making among young learners. The facilitators guided students through discussions on the value of self-respect, goal setting, and wise choices for the future—essential elements in preventing early pregnancy and fostering lifelong well-being.
Through stories, visuals, and interactive discussions, Dr. Catapang and Ms. Lucero made complex topics accessible and engaging. They emphasized delaying pregnancy, focusing on education, and saying “no” to risky behavior. Students participated actively, asking questions and reflecting on the importance of valuing their health, dreams, and future goals.
Teachers noted how the seminar inspired maturity and self-awareness among students. Many participants expressed appreciation for the supportive tone of the session and the relevance of the topic to their personal growth.
By promoting open dialogue and early education, the seminar supported Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being, which advocates for healthy lives and promotes well-being for all ages.
The successful activity reflected UBBC Grade School’s commitment to shaping responsible, informed, and empowered young individuals. The organizers recommended conducting regular health sessions on self-esteem, peer pressure, and media influence to further strengthen the students’ foundation for healthy decision-making.
