The Teacher Education Council (TEC) has extended the designation of the University of Batangas College of Education as a Teacher Education – Center of Excellence (COE) for an additional year, effective from November 1, 2024 to November 30, 2025. This prestigious award was officially conferred on November 27, 2024, during the Ceremonial Signing of Agreement for Project Rite and the Awarding of Teacher Education Centers of Excellence at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, Rizal Building, Department of Education Central Office, Pasig City.

The Teacher Education Council’s authority to designate Center of Excellence is granted under Republic Act No. 11713, also known as the “Excellence in Teacher Education Act.” This law empowers the TEC to recognize institutions that demonstrate outstanding quality in teacher education and training, contributing to the overall improvement of the nation’s education system.

As a designated Center of Excellence, UB’s College of Education plays a critical role in supporting the Teacher Education Council in the development and implementation of a new recognition and performance system for identifying and accrediting future Teacher Education Centers of Excellence. This system aims to elevate the quality of teacher education programs across the country and ensure that future educators are well-equipped to meet the needs of students and communities.

The renewed recognition highlights the UB College of Education’s ongoing commitment to excellence in advancing the Philippine education sector and as a leading institution for developing skilled and competent teachers for the future.
