University of Batangas (UB) Brahman chess varsity player Lance Caubang clinched the ninth-place spot in the highly competitive Under 16 Standard Event during the National Age Group Chess Championship 2026 held in Olongapo City from June 4 to 7, 2026.
Caubang navigated through multiple rounds of intense, high-pressure classical matches against the highest-ranked junior chess players in the Philippines to secure his top-ten finish. His strategic mastery over complex middle-game positions and endgame theory during the four-day tournament earned him the crucial qualifying points needed to represent the country in the upcoming international leg in Singapore.

Caubang will immediately begin his specialized grandmaster-level preparations to carry the Brahman pride onto the Southeast Asian stage.
