The Association of Legal Management Majors (ALMMa) and their student researchers energized the Barangay Balete Multi-Purpose Covered Court on January 27, 2024, when they hosted the Youth Empowerment Program—an outreach activity that inspired young people aged 13 to 18 to become responsible and engaged citizens.

The student researchers from the Legal Management program launched the activity as part of their study titled “Juvenile Justice System: Capability of Batangas Local Government Unit in the Identification, Rehabilitation, and Accommodation of Children in Conflict with the Law.” Through this initiative, ALMMa connected research with community engagement to address youth issues and promote civic awareness.

Dr. Liza Gonzales delivered an engaging discussion on the dangers of drug use and the importance of mental health. She empowered participants to make informed decisions, manage stress in healthy ways, and seek help without fear or stigma.

PSMS Jonnabee Enriquez tackled the legal side of the program. She explained RA 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act) and RA 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004), highlighting how these laws protect women and children and urging the youth to uphold respect and equality in their communities.

ALMMa officers and student researchers also led interactive activities such as “Pledge to the Community”, where participants signed a commitment to promote peace and harmony, and “Letter to Myself”, which encouraged the youth to write letters to their future selves, reflect on their goals, and embrace personal growth.

Through the Youth Empowerment Program, ALMMa empowered young participants to act with awareness, compassion, and responsibility. The organization continues to strengthen its advocacy for youth development, proving that student leaders can drive meaningful change in their communities.
