Filo-Talia: A Symphony of Filipino-Italian Flavors Showcased by UBLC BSIHM Students

The third-year students of the Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management (BSIHM) program at UBLC – College of Management and Tourism recently demonstrated their expertise in the field of catering through the successful execution of Filo-Talia: Symphony of Flavor. This Filipino-Italian-themed cuisine and catering event, held at Trattoria Lipeña, was a testament to the students’ dedication and skill in the hospitality industry.

As part of their Catering Management course requirements, the students took on the challenge of conceptualizing, planning, and executing a full-scale event, allowing them to gain valuable hands-on experience. Under the mentorship of their course adviser, Ms. Jinky R. Asugui, MBM, CGSP, LPT, they meticulously prepared and presented a fusion of Filipino and Italian flavors, highlighting their ability to blend traditional culinary elements with contemporary techniques.

The event was not only an opportunity for students to refine their catering skills but also a celebration of cultural appreciation and creativity in gastronomy. Guests were treated to an array of thoughtfully curated dishes, each reflecting the harmonious fusion of two rich culinary traditions. From pasta infused with Filipino flavors to classic local delicacies with an Italian twist, the menu was a delightful representation of the students’ innovation and craftsmanship.
