The Community Extension Services (CES) Office of the University of Batangas Lipa City Campus (UBLC) collaborated with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Batangas to provide support for the project of the Barangay Marawoy, Lipa City, which is the UBLC-CES’ adopted community.
Marawoy Women’s Association, Inc. (MWAI) is a group of women participating in the improvement of the existing production process and sales through the provision of necessary equipment and appropriate packaging materials.
On June 15, 2021, UBLC-CES Office sent a letter of request to DOST Batangas for the assistance of the MWAI’s project. After several months of processing the request, on March 2, 2022, DOST Batangas visited the MWAI Center to gather some information and to identify the needs of the MWAI’s project. Present in the said visitation is Ms. Anna Marie Marasigan, DOST staff, Mr. John Maico M. Hernandez , Field Officer, DOST Batangas, Ms. Rose Marasigan, MWAI President, Ms. Teresa Tero, Vice President, Ms. Marlyn Dayanan, Treasurer, Ms. Nimfa Junggay, Secretary, Ms. Marina Ubueno, member, Ms. Marites Junggay Acobera , member , Ms. Olly Maribel, member and Mr. Apolinario Maranan, UBLC CES External Program Coordinator. Mr. Maranan also shared the feasibility study of Meliria Delights by MWAI which was written by the College of Entrepreneurship, Tourism, Hospitality and Real Estate Management (CENTHRE) in the lead of Ms. Jinky Asugui, UBLC College Professor for more detailed and additional information that may use for the approval of DOST Batangas to UBLC-CES and MWAI request.
MWAI and DOST Batangas inked the Memorandum of Agreement for the project titled, “Improvement of process, storage and packaging of Cassava products by Marawoy Women’s Association, Inc. (MWAI)” on November 18, 2022. Present in the said MOA signing is Ms. Marasigan, MWAI President, Mr. Maranan, UBLC-CES Coordinator, Mr. Francisco R. Barquillal III, Ms. Felina C. Malabanan and Ms. Emelita P Bagsit from DOST Batangas held at the DOST office.
The DOST Batangas have finally given the cheque amounting to P298,830.00 on January 4, 2023 to MWAI and UBLC-CES at their Office in Batangas City.
