Dr. Glenn R. Aguila advances criminal justice education through forensic psychology certification

Dr. Glenn R. Aguila, Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) of the University of Batangas Lipa City, successfully completed the three-month Advanced Certificate Course in Forensic Psychology conducted by the Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science (SIFS), India. The internationally accredited program enhanced Dr. Aguila’s expertise in applying psychological principles within legal and criminal justice settings, reinforcing the University’s commitment to academic excellence, professional development, and the advancement of quality education in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UNSDG) 4: Quality Education.

The Advanced Certificate Course in Forensic Psychology is a comprehensive and interactive program designed for higher education learners in collaboration with colleges and universities. It provides in-depth knowledge of the role of psychology in the legal framework, the evolving scope of forensic psychology, and the diverse career opportunities within the discipline. As a specialized branch of psychology, forensic psychology applies psychological principles and practices to support legal proceedings and the criminal justice system.

Throughout the three-month program, Dr. Aguila completed specialized coursework covering the foundations and historical development of forensic psychology, the role of psychologists in legal processes, investigative methods, ethical considerations, interviewing and interrogation techniques, expert testimony, psychological assessment and risk evaluation, victim psychology, and other essential concepts that strengthen evidence-based practices in criminal justice.
