KAPErasong langit ko sa lupa – three University of Batangas (UB) theater performers staged an excerpt of Plebian The Great: A Kamikazee Musical, a first-time feat for Bachelor of Arts in Communication (AB COMM) students, during a specialized theater event at Hashtag Coffee on June 14, 2026.
Jeshua Jeric Montenegro playing “Leon Bonifacio”, Joseph Andrie Reglos portraying “Ariel Joaquin”, and John Albert Famorcan acting as “Ding De Castro” delivered the dramatic presentation. The performance anchored Teatro B’s Teatro Bonding, a dedicated stage reading activity designed to pilot new theatrical scripts.
The production bridges traditional academic theater with alternative community spaces. By moving the performance outside institutional auditoriums and into a local commercial venue, the artists brought experimental Filipino musical theater directly to grassroots audiences, proving that decentralized artistic spaces can sustain local cultural engagement and foster raw creative dialogue.
This cultural initiative directly aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. The stage reading furthers SDG Target 4.7, which ensures that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development and cultural diversity. By utilizing commercial spaces like cafes for artistic readings, the university’s performers create a sustainable blueprint for local creatives to overcome infrastructure shortages, preserving indigenous artistic expression and providing vulnerable youth with productive avenues for storytelling.
