Strengthening the University of Batangas’ (UB) role in advancing arts, culture, and creative leadership in the province, two UB professionals earned key leadership positions in the Batangas Culture and Arts Council – Theater Sector during its First Consultative Meeting held on May 21, 2026, at the Batangas Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office.
The appointments reinforce the university’s commitment to promoting cultural development through active participation in provincial initiatives that preserve, enrich, and strengthen the performing arts sector.
During the election of officers, Mr. Julius Ceazar D. Ayala, MACM, Head of the Media Production Center (MPC) and faculty member of the Multimedia Communications Department under the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), was elected Vice Sectoral Head of the Batangas Culture and Arts Council – Theater Sector.
Joining him in the council’s leadership is Mr. Joe Anthony Claus, adviser and trainer of the official UB cultural group Tanghalang Dal’wa-Singko, who was elected Sectoral Secretary of the Theater Sector.
The newly elected officers will help lead initiatives that strengthen collaboration among theater practitioners, educational institutions, cultural organizations, and local government stakeholders. They will also contribute to the formulation of programs that promote artistic excellence, preserve Batangas’ rich theatrical heritage, and create more opportunities for cultural education and community engagement.
The appointments recognize the professional expertise, artistic leadership, and sustained contributions of both UB representatives to theater education and creative development. Through their respective roles, they will help amplify the voice of the academic sector in shaping policies and programs that support the growth of theater arts across the province.
The recognition aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, particularly Target 4.7, which promotes the acquisition of knowledge and skills needed to appreciate cultural diversity and contribute to sustainable development through education. By empowering faculty members and cultural practitioners to lead provincial arts initiatives, the university advances learning that values creativity, heritage, and civic engagement.
The appointments also support SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, specifically Target 17.17, which encourages effective partnerships among public institutions, educational organizations, and civil society. Through its active participation in the Batangas Culture and Arts Council, the university strengthens collaborative efforts that advance cultural preservation, artistic innovation, and community development throughout the province.
