University of Batangas (UB) grade schooler Dean Caleb A. Montalbo captured the silver medal in the Under-14 (U14) Advance Kata category at the prestigious Karate One Youth League 2026, held in Manila from May 14 to 17, 2026.
Montalbo demonstrated exceptional technique and form throughout the high-stakes elimination rounds to secure his place in the finals. Competing in the U14 Advance Kata division required him to execute a series of pre-choreographed martial arts movements judged strictly on speed, power, balance, and rhythmic alignment. His silver-medal finish brings immense pride to the UB community and establishes him as a rising star in the national and international karate circuits. This victory also underscores the effectiveness of early athletic training and the unwavering support of the UB sports programs.
This athletic milestone drives the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by advancing SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, as Montalbo’s success highlights the vital role of physical education and martial arts in fostering youth fitness and mental wellness. Additionally, the victory supports SDG 4: Quality Education by validating UB’s commitment to holistic learning, proving that the institution provides the critical infrastructure and encouragement needed for students to achieve elite excellence beyond the traditional classroom.
