The University of Batangas (UB), while in celebration of its 80th Founding Anniversary, marked another feat of hosting the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) South for the second time in its 27th Season on April 30, 2026 at the Juan Y. Javier Culture & Arts Building.

This prestigious gathering featured the collective participation of De La Salle Lipa, Emilio Aguinaldo College – Cavite, FAITH Colleges, Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas, San Beda College Alabang, San Pablo Colleges, Trace College, University of Perpetual Help System Laguna, Philippine Christian University, and the University of Batangas.

UB President Lily Marlene J. Hernandez-Bohn welcomed the delegation with an inspiring address that underscored the league’s core purpose.

“Beyond the scores and standings, NCAA South has always been about something more, something greater,” she stated. “It brings people together and teaches lessons that go beyond the game: discipline, respect for one another, and working towards a shared goal.”

The event transitioned into the recognition of excellence, where officials awarded certificates to the hardworking members of the Management Committee. The ceremony reached a fever pitch during the Awarding of Team and Individual Sports, celebrating the sheer talent and tenacity displayed by the student-athletes throughout the season.

Reflecting on the challenges overcome during the season, Atty. Jesus V. Mayo, Board of Regents Chairman, delivered a powerful message on the strength of the Brahman spirit.

“We also know that what doesn’t kill us will continue to strengthen each of us,” Atty. Mayo remarked. “Beyond the game, it’s about the lessons learned and the resilience built through every challenge.”

The ceremony concluded with the symbolic lowering of the flags of the Management Committee and the Policy Board, officially declaring the close of NCAA South Season 27. In a significant moment of transition, UB formally turned over the hosting duties for Season 28 to Philippine Christian University – Dasmariñas.

”Our mission is not only to produce champions in sports, but to cultivate champions in life,” a representative of Dr. Junifen F. Gauuan, PCU President, shared. “We envision Season 28 as a platform of transformation where talent is discovered, leadership is shaped, and excellence becomes a shared standard.”

The ceremony emphasized the transformative power of sport, aligning with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4: Quality Education. By providing a platform for competitive athletics, UB fosters the development of physical health, emotional resilience, and lifelong learning. This commitment to character-building also reinforces SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, as the league promotes fair play and institutional cooperation.
