The University of Batangas (UB) Research and Publications Office (RPO) successfully hosted the “UBian Legacy: Search for the Best Faculty and Student Papers 2024” on May 10, 2024.
The event, organized by the RPO under the direction of Dr. Romell A. Ramos , was held under the theme “Collaborative Continuum: Transdisciplinary Insights to Global Sustainable Development” . This initiative directly aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing to address global challenges.
The forum showcased 15 multidisciplinary research papers, comprising eight from faculty and seven from students. The research was presented in parallel sessions and evaluated by a panel of external experts from academia and industry.
The event began with inspirational messages from university leadership, including University President Mrs. Lily Marlene J. Hernandez, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Aurora P. Tolentino, and AVP for Academic Affairs Dr. Lolita F. Tegon.

Faculty Category:
- Best Paper: “Proposed Gender-Mainstreaming Program in Basic Education of University of Batangas” by Mr. Jeryll Nick Mercado and Mr. Jerico Alberto.
- 2nd Best Paper: “Development and Validation of Gender Responsive Curriculum Scale” by Dr. Sharamay Espinol, Dr. Carl Reman Maranan, and Dr. Rosemarue Mayanne Manalo.
- 3rd Best Paper: “Expecting the Unexpected: Determining the Disaster Preparedness and Resiliency of a Private Philippine University” by Mr. Paul Sangalang, Mrs. Felcitas M. Cortez, and Ms. Mary Grace Manalo.
- Best Presenter: Mr. Jeryll Nick Mercado.
Student Category:
- Best Paper: “Proposed Sustainability Plan Using Financial Risk Management for Pisculture in Barangay Bandage, Agoncillo, Batangas” by Arabelle Alamag, Jelian Paula Balling, Abegail Landicho, and Nicole Medina (College of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management).
- 2nd Best Paper: “Design and Implementation of a Weather-Adaptive Hybrid Energy Harvester…” by Karen Dalangin, Karl Wilhel Buri, and team (College of Engineering).
- 3rd Best Paper: “Knowledge and Perceptions on Neonatal Pain Management of NICU Nurses…” by Jose Alberto Aguinaldo, Aira Dalisay, and team (College of Nursing and Midwifery).
- Best Presenter: Karen Dalangin (College of Engineering).
The research forum was formally closed by RPO Director Dr. Romell A. Ramos, who delivered the closing message and challenge to the university’s researchers.
