The University of Batangas (UB) Young Communicators’ Guild (YCG) gathered on YCG Day! ABAKADA as Academic Year 2023–2024 came to a close on May 7, 2024 celebrating creativity, unity, and learning at the Mass Communication Laboratory.
With the Vice President for External Affairs Kirsthel Dawn O. Domingo led the event, together with the support from both internal and external committees, the event highlighted teamwork in planning logistics, technical arrangements, and decorations. The organizers also coordinated with the External Projects and Development Office (EPDO) to facilitate requests and excuse letters, ensuring a seamless execution of activities.
The program opened with welcoming remarks from VP External Domingo, who expressed gratitude to all contributors and participants. Auditor Hazel Reyes led the opening prayer, setting a tone of unity and appreciation. The first segment, “COMMustahan,” encouraged members to share experiences and insights in an open, light-hearted exchange.
Ms. Kathleen Dinglasan, who was the guest speaker for the seminar, discussed the significance of the Communication program in developing professional and personal growth. Drawing from her experiences in the communication and media industry, Ms. Dinglasan inspired students to pursue their aspirations with passion and purpose.
In the afternoon, members engaged in a variety of parlor games designed to promote camaraderie and teamwork. Two major competitions followed: the YCG Quiz Bee: “COMMPetisyon ng Isip at Talino” and “Ang Batang Tumutula – BOW” (Spoken Poetry Competition), both of which showcased the wit, talent, and creativity of YCG members.
The day concluded with a group photo and closing remarks from the VP External, capturing the essence of a meaningful celebration. Through YCG Day! ABAKADA, members rekindled connections, strengthened collaboration, and reflected on their shared journey as communicators. The event successfully embodied SDG 4: Quality Education, fostering continuous learning, creativity, and unity—values that the Young Communicators’ Guild continues to uphold in every endeavor.
