In August 2024, the University of Batangas (UB) Young Communicators’ Guild (YCG) successfully revived YCG Exclusives, a student-led news production initiative that ran at the university campus as part of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication (AB COMM) program’s applied learning activities.

The revival of YCG Exclusives transformed the traditional learning setup into a dynamic and practical experience. Students took full control of the production process—from brainstorming and researching stories to conducting interviews, filming, editing, and presenting news segments. Using Adobe Premiere Pro, participants produced a 22-minute broadcast that showcased both creativity and professionalism.

To ensure quality and industry alignment, the outputs underwent evaluation from the YCG President and Mr. Julius Ceazar Ayala, a faculty member specializing in media production. The feedback-driven approach not only enhanced technical proficiency but also strengthened students’ adaptability and teamwork under real newsroom pressure.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, the project promoted hands-on learning that equips students with relevant skills for future employment. It emphasized the development of communication, critical thinking, and leadership abilities—core competencies essential in the media industry.

Despite facing limited manpower and tight deadlines, the students successfully launched the program, turning challenges into valuable learning opportunities. YCG Exclusives stood as a testament to how experiential learning empowers students to transform theoretical knowledge into professional expertise, preparing them to excel in their future communication careers.
