Road to Regional – UB Brahmans dominate in Division Athletic Association Meet 2025

The winning streak continues as the University of Batangas (UB) Brahmans sweep in the Division Athletic Association Meet (DAAM) 2025, held from September 16 to 19, 2025. 

On the volleyball court, the UB Secondary Boys’ team smashed their way to the championship with Zean Gabriel M. Balbastro, Ezekiel C. Barrion, Ivbo R. Bucaya, Chris Natan D. Caringal, Prince Marvin G. Catapang, Christofer Reyes Dalisay, Reign Timothy T. Dioso, Carl Ervin L. Macatangay, Maynard B. Macatangay, Ron James G. Perez, Dylan Rob I. Sanchez, and Kian Joseph J. Soriano leading the charge. Not to be outdone, the UB Secondary Girls’ squad also dominated, claiming the top spot with standout plays from Glenda Rose S. Cacatian, Merlyn B. Calomos, Zaina P. Custodio, Via U. De Sagun, Cristine Joy S. Dejito, Polen C. Enriquez, Scarlett M. Escalante, Khloe Mikyla L. Fortu, Andrea Mae M. Gabrinao, Hermione Zoe S. Oliva, Larra Gene M. Recinto, and Venus C. Rioja.

The UB Secondary Boys’ basketball team battled through and clinched the championship, powered by the likes of James Anthony Brent A. Briones, Aiyan Prinz R. Cabrera, Joey D. Cajudo, James Andrew L. Cuevas, Juan Miguel E. Dizon, Sean Ervin P. Lopez, Rich Jullian N. Pineda, Seff Amiel C. Robles, Ron Joshua A. Rogando, Irish Justine P. Suruela, Lance Alberth Ross C. Villalobos, and Fritz Matthew A. Villapando. Meanwhile, in the 3×3 showdown, UB’s squad of Derron Alfonso P. Dimaunahan, Lesther C. Leynes, Ejay J. Maala, and Carlos Daniel Rufio B. Silva brought home another championship trophy.

On the chess boards, UB’s young masterminds reigned supreme, taking the overall championship. Lance Caubang (Boys Board 1) and Paul Pentinio (Boys Board 2) secured titles, while Laureen Pentinio (Girls Board 1) and Marteena Aureada (Girls Board 2) swept the girls’ division.

In badminton, it was a smash-hit performance. Kenjee A. Almero soared to the Boys’ Singles A championship, while Khyle Kristianroz G. Bay and Jozef Marcelino V. Masangkay grabbed the Boys’ Doubles crown. Maria Leianne D. Amaranto and Ma. Samantha Gabriel Y. Gonzales brought the same firepower to the Girls’ Doubles, sealing yet another gold.

UB paddlers also made waves in table tennis. The unstoppable tandem of Juris Lawrence C. Alejo and Raphael Gregory A. Mendez clinched the championship in the Secondary Boys’ Doubles. Renz Allen B. Casas finished with a strong third place in the Secondary Boys’ Singles B, while Maria Fatima Andrea De Guzman claimed second place in the Secondary Girls’ Singles B, and the doubles duo of Fiona Mari Bautista and Mia Angela Jordan earned second place in the Secondary Girls’ Doubles.

The fight continued in taekwondo, where UB warriors unleashed their might. Gold medalists in Kyorugi included Jorren Salazar, Richard Jallores Meriilo, Kevin Gabia, Swayne Matthew Zachary Velasquez, Akisha Dominique Natanauan, Rhian Marla Ardid, and Euna Cayenne Balagbis. Velasquez also kicked his way to two silver medals in Mixed Pair Poomsae and Individual Poomsae. Adding to the medal haul were Gerwin Oliver Villanueva (silver, Kyorugi), Dharlenne Mae Baclao (silver in Mixed Pair and Individual Poomsae), and Mikaili Danielle Manalo (silver, Kyorugi).

With their dominant showing, the UB Brahmans now set their sights on the Regional Athletic Association Meet in March 2026, ready to carry their momentum to the next stage.
