As the University of Batangas celebrates its 80th Founding Anniversary and the University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC) marks its 15th year of shared excellence and legacy of greatness, the campus undertook a significant institutional milestone by pursuing accreditation under the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation, Inc. (PACUCOA). The initiative aims to evaluate academic programs based on recognized standards and affirm the university\u2019s commitment to delivering excellence in education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The accreditation proper was conducted from April 21 to 22, 2026, bringing together PACUCOA accreditors, university administrators, college deans, program heads, and chiefs of offices in a collaborative quality assurance process. The opening meeting was held at Trattoria Lipe\u00f1a, formally launching the evaluation activities across participating colleges and programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several academic programs sought accreditation and orientation during the visit. From the College of Criminal Justice Education, the Bachelor of Science in Criminology applied for Level II Accreditation. The College of Education, Arts and Sciences presented the Bachelor of Science in Social Work and Bachelor of Early Childhood Education for Orientation on Accreditation, while the Bachelor of Science in Legal Management applied for Level II Accreditation. The College of Engineering and Architecture submitted the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering for Level II Accreditation and the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering for Level I Accreditation. Meanwhile, the College of Information Technology, Entertainment, and Communication advanced the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology for Level II Accreditation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the opening program, University President Lily Marlene J. Hernandez emphasized the significance of accreditation in the institution\u2019s milestone year, highlighting that the university\u2019s founding vision remains rooted in service to the nation through education. She recalled that the University of Batangas was established in 1946, shortly after the Second World War, when six founders envisioned rebuilding society by providing quality, affordable, and accessible education to Filipino youth. Eight decades later, she affirmed that the institution continues to uphold the same mission by contributing to national development through transformative education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Hernandez underscored that subjecting programs to accreditation reflects the university\u2019s willingness to seek external evaluation and professional guidance to ensure academic standards remain responsive to local and global demands. She emphasized that accreditation allows institutions to assess whether they are on the right track, recognize areas for improvement, and continuously strengthen educational delivery. The University also highlighted its recent hosting of the PAPSCU Cares Education Series attended by representatives from more than 100 schools nationwide, reinforcing collaboration among educators in advancing Philippine education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closing meeting on April 22, 2026 gathered accreditors, administrators, college deans, and program heads to synthesize findings and recommendations. Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Aurora P. Tolentino expressed gratitude to the PACUCOA team and the entire university community for their collective effort in successfully undertaking the accreditation process. She reaffirmed the administration\u2019s commitment to carefully review all recommendations and initiate institutional actions addressing identified areas for enhancement, ensuring sustained academic improvement across programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a young yet thriving academic community in the region, the University of Batangas Lipa City continues to uphold the promise envisioned 80 years ago by its founders; to provide quality, accessible, and transformative education that contributes to nation-building.
