The University of Batangas (UB) conducted a seminar titled \u201cBattle for Sovereignty: The Philippines\u2019 Fight in the West Philippine Sea\u201d on May 17, 2024, at the UB Junior High School (JHS) Learning Resource Center (LRC) to deepen students\u2019 understanding of the country\u2019s maritime dispute with China and foster informed, patriotic, and responsible citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seminar explored the legal and historical dimensions of the West Philippine Sea issue, emphasizing the Philippines\u2019 efforts to defend its territorial integrity and maritime rights under international law. Speakers discussed the 2016 Arbitral Tribunal ruling and the ongoing diplomatic challenges in asserting national sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Designed to promote national awareness and civic engagement, the event encouraged students to recognize their role in upholding the nation\u2019s sovereignty and supporting peaceful yet principled approaches to maritime defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
