The University of Batangas (UB) honored a new generation of outstanding students and student organizations during the Gawad UBian 2025 held on August 1, 2025, at the UB Culture and Arts Building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In between the ceremonies, the auditorium was filled with lively performances from Indayog Kultura Dance Company; Ms. Princess Margaret Magsaysay, Champion of the PRISAA Regional Vocal Solo Competition 2025; UB Chorale Alumnus Mr. Sherwin Celis; and UB Chorale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
University President Lily Marlene J. Hernandez-Bohn gave her opening remarks, wherein she highlighted that the awarding ceremony celebrates individuals who go beyond what is expected of them. \u201cIt\u2019s about people who serve not just out of duty but out of a genuine desire to inspire others, dream big, and aim high for a brighter future,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Board of Regents Chairman Atty. Jesus V. Mayo likened the awardees to a galloping bull\u2013an image traced from the Batangas province map\u2013symbolizing perseverance and determination. He emphasized that UBians, like the bull, embody diligence and resilience as they carve their own names in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Former Rank 1\u2013Outstanding UBian (2021), Ms. Jessanie B. Mansueto shared that her recognition was never just about the medal but \u201ca call to action and a responsibility to inspire others.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The formal recognition began with the Top Scholarship Grantors, presented by Pres. Bohn, Atty. Mayo, and Admissions and Scholarship Officer Mr. Antonio P. Aquino Jr. They also honored the Most Active Internship Partners together with Mrs. Ryzza Ranie M. Beron. While Student Affairs and External Programs (SAEP) Officer and Placement Coordinator Mrs. Jennelyn Evangelista joined for the awarding of the Most Active Job Placement Industry Partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the Cultural Groups, Culture, Arts and Publications (CArP) Director Dr. Redentor S. Rodriguez presented the awards alongside the University President and the Chairman of the Board of Regents. Sports Director Mr. Christopher Quizon and Sports Coordinator Mr. Henry Gonzales awarded the Sports Team citations, while the UB Student Government also received recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other award categories highlighted diverse areas of student excellence. The Outstanding Community Extension Services (CES) Coordinators received recognition from Corporate Communications Office (CCO) Assistant Director Mr. Jerome Arcega. Mrs. Beron honored the Outstanding Student Assistants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While in major categories, Mrs. Christine M. Hernandez, International Student Services Officer, presented the Outstanding Student Organizations. The top 3 student organizations, in descending order, were the Junior Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers \u2014 University of Batangas, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers University of Batangas Student Chapter, and Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers University of Batangas Student Chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the Outstanding UBian 2025, Mrs. Milan De Torres, SAEP Officer of UB Lipa City, presented Ranks 9 to 7, while Dr. Rodriguez awarded Ranks 6-4. Hon. Ma. Claudette Ambida later announced the top three ranks, with Ms. Holly Kyle Merian C. Bacay securing Rank 3, Ms. Alyza Mae D. Peramo earning Rank 2, and Ms. Lexie Moira M. Cordova claimed the prestigious Rank 1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her heartfelt speech, Ms. Cordova expressed gratitude to her \u201cvillage\u201d\u2013her teachers, peers, and mentors from the College of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management. She emphasized the value of action over intention, concluding, \u201cIt’s not about what you want, it\u2019s about what you do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Closing the program, Mr. Vincent M. Alcantara, SAEP Officer, reminded the honorees that the Gawad UBian remains dedicated to recognizing individuals who embody the ideals of a true UBian: diligence, service, and passion.
