Computerized Dissection of the Human Body: UB Acquires Anatomage Table

Constantly aiming to be one step ahead in medical education, University of Batangas (UB) has purchased a state-of-the-art and digital dissection table. This new piece of equipment enables students to examine the parts of the human body without the need for an actual specimen.

UB is the first tertiary institution in the province of Batangas that has acquired this high-tech tool.

The University of Batangas is also one of only around 17 universities and colleges in the whole country to possess such a learning device. Some of these institutions are known as top medical schools in the Philippines.

Through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed last September 3, 2021, Philippines Exponents for Business and Product Solutions Inc. has supplied UB with one unit of Anatomage Convertible Table 7 (ACT 7). This device, which was delivered to the university last December 14, 2021, is manufactured by the U.S.-based technology company Anatomage.

Through ACT 7, the university’s College of Allied and Medical Sciences students will be able to study and observe the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Instead of cutting open a real body, learners tap and slide their hands across a touchscreen monitor to access high-resolution images and animations of organs and systems.

This Anatomage dissection table also shows life-sized imagery and data gathered from actual patients, making the learning experience as close to reality as it can get. There are also independent studies that indicate the positive educational impact of this device, especially during the COVID pandemic.
