TOPPING THE PANDEMIC UB rosters 86 new civil engineers, reaps 2nd, 10th spots in CE board exam

No pandemic can truly hinder the University of Batangas to manifest its
‘Undeniably the Best’ mantra as it successfully registered 86 new civil engineers in the
recently concluded Licensure Examination for Civil Engineers, bagging the 2nd and 10th
spots.

With its high passing percentage and consistent placements in the list of
topnotchers, the University of Batangas – College of Engineering lauded the passers
through a virtual flag ceremony held on December 8.

The university also recognized and acknowledged Engr. Lyka Jane M. Pesigan
and Engr. Dan Michael Sean who ranked 2nd and 10th respectively in the November
2021 board exam.

Meanwhile. Dr. Henry I. Cabatay, Dean of the College of Engineering, shared the
difficulties surpassed by the new civil engineers as they battled the adversities of the
pandemic to ‘stay at the top’.

“Being engineers, we are used to solving problems and finding strategies and
techniques to lessen the difficulties, we face the challenges head-on. Thank God, we
overcome our negative thoughts and emotions by our collective desire to win over this
pandemic,” Dr. Cabatay expressed.

Despite these challenges, Engr. Marocom, a student leader and national finalist of
the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines, testified on how the University of
Batangas had consistently provided quality education throughout his 17 years of
experience in the university.

According to him, the university has always expressed its full support not only in
the field of academics, but also in certain causes, advocacies, and passions.
“Totoo naman na hindi mo na kailangang lumayo pa para lang magkaroon ng
access to quality education. We are proof, together with my co-topnotchers that the
University of Batangas is at par with Manila schools,” Marocom stressed.
On the other hand, Engr. Pesigan, a student-athlete, asserted that the University
of Batangas has always provided its continuous guidance in academic, sports, and social
interactions through its incredible teachers who believed in her potentials and capabilities.
“Whenever I was beginning to doubt myself, they always told me that I needed to
keep moving forward and keep fighting. That, I believe, is the most rewarding experience
any engineering student could ever have: learning while feeling the support, care, and
concern of his or her mentor,” Pesigan said.

Meanwhile, both topnotchers received cash incentives for the pride and recognition
they have brought to the university.
