UB sustains its Autonomous Status

University of Batangas has sustained its autonomous status, the highest recognition that the
Commission on Higher Education (CHED) can grant to any private higher education institution in
recognition of the quality education, academic excellence, and commitment to becoming the best
higher-education provider. The award was accorded through Memorandum Order No. 12 issued by
CHED on October 24, 2019.

In a Thanksgiving Mass and Program held last November 9, 2019, Dr. Hernando B. Perez, the University
President, stated UB’s achievements in academics, cultural and sports making the university a worthy
recipient of such recognition. Automatically recognized graduates, allowed to open new campuses and
to offer new courses are only few of the many blessings of the Autonomous Status. Dr. Perez then
mentioned also the lined developmental plans of UB campuses. “This is just the beginning, we will attain
more”, shared Dr. Perez.

Atty. Jesus V. Mayo, Chairman of the Board of Regents extends his deepest gratitude to all the members
of the UB Community that paved the way to the grant of Autonomous Status. “Under the direction of
University President, the members of the academe, we have set forth to work on the renewal of the
status of autonomy. We thank God for the blessings of talent from our cultural performers and athletes,
these we are very proud of. Congratulations to all the members of the UB Community for the passion,
hardwork and dedication that has made the university where we are today”, Atty. Mayo expressed.
UB joins the roster of 68 Higher Education Institutions in the Philippines which enjoy the blessing of this
autonomy.
