The UB College of Law Moot Court and Debate Society (MCDS) participated in the “2019
National Moot Court Competition in International Humanitarian Law” and won First
Runner-Up among sixteen (16) participating schools all over the country last September
27, 2019 at the En Banc Hall of the Supreme Court of the Philippines.
International Humanitarian Law (IHL) concerns life and dignity of the people affected
by armed conflict. Through this competition, Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have reached out the academe for
support in advocating IHL in the country.
The competition is composed of submission of memorials, role play challenges and
rounds of oral arguments. The members of the team are Ms. Godly Ann T. Camitan (1 st
Oralist), Ms. Lyra Nikka Z. Vivas (2 nd Oralist), and Ms. Paula Bianca C. Daquigan (Of
Counsel) with Mr. Denji G. Cosico and Ms. Deborah B. Palacio as their coaches.
Nevertheless, the team made to the finals by presenting methodical points, providing
explicit arguments and being courageous contradictory.
