Guidance and Counseling Practitioners nestled in the province of Batangas find home in the
oldest university in the province, University of Batangas (UB) through the latter’s partnership
with the Philippine Guidance Counseling Association (PGCA) - Batangas Province Chapter.
UB headed by its university president, Dr. Hernando B. Perez together with the Chairman of the
Board, Atty. Jesus V. Mayo signed a memorandum of agreement with PGCA - Batangas
represented by its president, Dr. Gladiola A. Eje-Dimaculangan together with the PGCA
National President, Dr. Adelaida C. Gines last February 13, 2019 at the Patio Café, University of
Batangas, Hilltop, Batangas City.
The memorandum of agreement highlights the two parties’ partnership in bringing together and
uniting all Registered Guidance Counselors and counseling practitioners in Batangas to respond
to the growing needs of the community in the promotion of mental wellness.
The partnership also includes UB providing PGCA Batangas Province with a complimentary
office space located at the university’s Guidance Counseling and Health Office. Meanwhile, the
partnership entitles UB’s professors, employees and graduate students to avail 10% discount in
PGCA provincial membership fee, provision of research mentorship, learning session for
graduate students enrolled in guidance and counseling program, counseling related seminar to
university employees and promotion of UB during all PGCA Batangas events.
After sealing the partnership, the blessing and the cutting of ribbon ceremony for the new
PGCA-Batangas Office followed. The other officers of the organization who graced the
significant milestone are Registered Guidance Counselors who came from different schools and
universities in the province: Dr. Myra B. Alday (Batangas State University), Ms. Edchelle D.
Adajar (University of Batangas), Ms. Rochelle R. Sasuya Cleofas (Daniel Mercado Medical
Center Institute of Health Sciences), Dr. Renelyn B. Salcedo (First Asia Institute of Technology
and Humanities), Mrs. Esperanza C. Llanes (Southgate Institute of Malvar ) and Mrs. Cleofas A.
Khoo (Lipa City Colleges).
The event was well-commended by the PGCA National President, Dr. Gines as she gleefully
encouraged the officers of the organization to carry on with their incredibly excellent progress
for a short period of time as the organization was just launched last June 2018.
