UB Table Tennis Coach Qualifies as International Table Tennis Umpire

In view of the Philippines’ hosting of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, the 2018 International Table Tennis Umpire Course and Examination was conducted at Bislig City, Surigao del Sur last March 16-18,2018 through the auspices of the Philippine Table Tennis Federation.

With this, University of Batangas is very much proud to share the result of the examination which was released last June 12, 2018. The university’s Table Tennis Coach and College Instructor, Mr. Daniel Deleniana qualifies as international table tennis umpire. A total of only ten (10) experienced national umpires from around the country have been carefully selected to take part in this significant activity. Coach Deleniana, who is the President of Region IV-A Philippine Table Tennis Federation Inc. and also the President of United Batangueño Table Tennis Club, was the only recommended national umpire from CALABARZON.

It was a long journey before reaping the success of the said examination. After passing the Basic Umpire Course and the National Umpire Course, and rendering service at National Sports Association, it was only then that recommendation will be given to take the International Table Tennis Umpire Course and Examination. For Coach Deleniana’s case, it took him four years to be able to take the examination, and given the much awaited chance, he focused and prepared hard for this.

Coach Deleniana shared that passing the examination will not only bring him pride, but will definitely bring pride to University of Batangas, as he, with head held high will proudly introduce himself as one proud Brahman. As a coach, this will be a great mean to benchmark game techniques, footwork, strokes or styles and most importantly the equipment used. This is also an edge to consider as he will be familiarized with latest rules and procedures of the said game.

Coach Delaniana will be one of the officials in SEA (Southeast Asian) Games Junior to be held at Naga City on July 4-8, 2018. He will also be officiating in the much anticipated SEA games next year.
