University of Batangas College of Law rejoices once again after producing 28 new lawyers with a topnotcher in the 2016 Bar Examination. And for the first time, all of the top 10 passers were from provincial law schools.
Atty. Nia Rachelle Gonzales,JD Class 2016 Valedictoroian scored 87.50%in the 2016 Bar Examinations, sealing her in the ninth place. Atty. Gonzales is the second bar topnotcher of University of Batangas in the recent years. Before her, Atty. Rudy Ortea ranked third place in the 2013 Bar Exams.
The silence while she was on her way to the Cathedral where she planned to check the results was broken when results of the bar were officially declared. Atty. Gonzales did not only pass, she ranked ninth place.
“Na-overwhelm ako, hindi ko ineexpect na makakasama ako sa top 10. Kasi ang pinagpray ko lang talaga is yung makapasa, yun lang “, Gonzales shared.
The young mom who once stopped pursuing law school credited her success to her father and daughters. She believes that her mother is indeed very much proud of her success even if she is no longer here. Gonzales was filled with so much eagerness to pass the bar, giving her 100% and thinking that this was her last chance to take the exam.
“Talagang sinet ko na na kailangan ko tong makuha ng first take lang kasi mahirap ang struggle ko kasi may mga anak na ako so kung uulitin ko na naman yung process, parang hindi ko na afford kasi syempre yung time na mawawala saming mag-iina”,
Included also in the university’s latest batch of lawyers are: Atty. Victoria Aala, Atty. Carl Vincent Aguila, Atty. Kristina Marie Joy Andal, Atty. John Arvin Atie, Atty. Karen Baciles, Atty. Vladimir Buensalida, Atty. Gretchen Calangi, Atty. Baby Trina Castillo, Atty. Baby Marian Grace Cayetano, Atty. Jonathan Paolo Dimaano, Atty. Jane Lancie Dimaculangan, Atty. Karmela Mirriam Ebreo, Atty. Michelle Ann Escalona, Atty. Edward Marc Jovellanos, Atty. Carina Kasilag, Atty. Meynard Magsino, Atty. Magnolia Masangkay, Atty. Felix Leonard Novicio, Atty. Jasmine Joy Pablo, Atty. Sophia Palermo-Enriquez, Atty. Palermo-Enriquez Pascua, Atty.Sonny Jose Ricablanca, Atty. Queencel Segunial, Atty. Jelyn May Tagle, Atty. Ava Talag, Atty. Ivy Audrey Telegatos and Atty. Portia Rochelle Villena.
The Supreme Court released on May 3 the results of the exam wherein a total of 3,747 out of 6,344 bar candidates passed, or 59.06 percent of the total examinees.
Atty. Gonzales emphasized that their success is not only what they look at to, but the responsibility bestowed to each one of them.
Atty. Gonzales and the rest of the bar passers will be honored with a testimonial dinner on May 17, 2017 at Ginazel’s, while the official oath-taking ceremony will be on May 22 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
